Have we been sold a bill of goods?

There was a recent study about the difference between people who actually viewed an event and those that recorded it with a device. Taking photos or video. The group that watched the event remembered the event better than those who used a device to record. They were simply more consumed with working the device than with enjoying their lives and the events that were going on around them.

Also even if they record the event with photos or video they are less likely to go home and actually watch the event, makes sense who wants to watch a tiny screen for hours at a time. Watch in full live view, enjoy the moment life size in front of your face.

Is it time to put down the devices and enjoy our lives? We have been sold many devices that record events in our lives, were we over sold do we need to take another look at the products we purchased, have they enhanced out lives or are we missing our lives.

I am really enjoying the new color for wedding dress this year. The blush is beautiful.

Another new trend is the reception center pieces, Hot Air balloons. Really different and cute.

Even the trends in my own industry have become more clever, A jump drive in a bottle, how cute
is that.

I love new ideas!

Tips for taking better photos

Get closer, I look at my own photos before I studied photography and I was so far away and the people were so small you could hardly see them. If I knew then what I know now I would have moved that camera in for a better shot.

Hold that camera still, even with the IPhone you need to concentrate on holding it still. Use both hands if you need to.

Smart Phone Photos

Smart phone photos are great for sharing and Social Media. Professional photos are a keepsake, wall portraits, albums, desktop frames. Professional photos have no place on Facebook or Social media sharing.

Lighting

Work with your photographer when creating ambiance at your wedding with lighting you can transport your guests using ethereal to romantic to dramatic lighting all in one space.
Correct placement of candles or stringing carnival lights in trees to lighting a walkway with  pillars or small LED orbs.
Remember a pitch dark room will give you pitch dark photos, so go over the lighting with your photographer and videographer to see what will be best for your photos.

Nothing finishes off a wedding like a professional wedding album. All the months of work and stress are well worth it when you get that first look at those wedding photos. You know for sure that you were the most beautiful bride, your wedding was a success and the groom was the hottest groom ever.

"Wedding shoes have changed from the must have 'white shoe', to a sexy pair of shoes that transforms your legs into objects of desire for your groom. Where your wedding is held, the time of day and the gown will dictate the type of shoes you will choose. They can be decorated with bows, fresh or silk flowers, rhinestones or beadwork. Your shoes will work with your dress and your entire wedding.

Shoes are a great part of your wedding day and your photography. Adding important detail to your photos.

A good idea is to bring your shoes to the dress fitting to ensure they will work with the length of your dress."

"Your style really has nothing to do with all the stuff that you have purchased for the wedding. It is a confidence and grace that everyone sees in you. It’s your conduct how considerate and respectful you are toward those around you. Your wedding isn’t just to have a great party, it is your chance to be the ultimate hostess.

Don’t keep your guests waiting to start the ceremony, make sure they are comfortable during the ceremony, don’t let them sit in the rain or sweltering sun.

If you can’t afford a huge meal have your wedding in the afternoon with lovely finger foods. It would be better to have great tasting snacks as opposed to a cheap large meal. Do an afternoon tea with class.

Giving up your photography for an inexpensive five coarse meal is not the way to go."

"When purchasing your wedding shoes it may be a good idea to think about the reception. Maybe a backup pair of shoes in a size larger would work to give your feet a break for dancing!"

"Unique wedding ideas. Wouldn't you just love to see something unique and different at your wedding. A few really different ideas I have seen lately are mashed potato bars, french fry bars all served in martini glasses. Hamburger shooters. The latest idea I saw was Coffee shooters, here is the receipt.

1 ounce Vodka or Tequila

1/2 ounce KahlĂșa Especial

1/2 ounce Tia Maria 1 ounce cold espresso"

"You are newly engaged and planning your wedding. The most important choice you will make will be your wedding photographer. You can skimp on the decor or simply use what the venue has to offer, no one will notice, you can have an afternoon wedding with finger foods, get the flowers from Costco or your Grammy's garden, do without favors (no one takes them anyway) no one will notice these things.

If you have a bad photographer or one of the internet $500 people everyone will notice and be heart-sick and just say 'The photos are beautiful' when you really have nothing more than what your uncle or best friend can do. Yes this is negative, better now than after the wedding.

Do not shop price for the photography!"

"Doing both video and stills has been very interesting. I can watch the video of a wedding and then view the stills and see that I had captured moments with photographs that did not stand out in the video.

I am always amazing at the fleeting moments and the comments from the bride and groom that they did no even remember event at their wedding.

I wonder what the most important thing would be to the bride before the wedding. The dress, the cake, the table decor. What would they give up to preserve those moments.

After the wedding is not the time to say I wish I had spent more on my photography. I hear so many complaints from couples who had a friend, family member or a cheap newbee take their wedding photographs.

My opinion would be to give the guest finger foods, rent table decor and spend the greater part of my budget on the video and photographs."

"The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. ~William Faulkner"
Every wedding deserves the best, don't lose your memories to a beginner.
